Quick Overview

  • It is a short skills programme designed to equip child carers, au pairs, and pre-school assistants with basic childcare and cooking skills.

R6 950 per learner (Incl. VAT)

This includes basic First Aid training as well.

2 – 3 Weeks

The initial training consists of 6 contact sessions (excluding the first aid training – 4 days).

  • Prepare resources and set up the environment to support the development of babies, toddlers and young children
  • Facilitate the holistic development of babies, toddlers and young children
  • Perform basic life support and first aid procedures
  • Basic cooking skills programme

We recommend 10 – 20 learners per training group.

Childcare and Cooking Course

To ensure that the participants are equipped to start a new career, we present the following:

  • During the 2 – 3 weeks participants will be equipped with a skills programme consisting of modules on Childcare and Cooking (including first aid training).

The programme consists of the following modules:

  • Prepare resources and set up the environment to support the development of babies, toddlers and young children
  • Adapting resources.
  • Identifying activities that support the development of babies, toddlers and young children.
  • Reflecting on the use and effectiveness of the resources.
  • Setting up the environment.
  • Sourcing and select resources.
  • Facilitate the holistic development of babies, toddlers and young children
  • Facilitating development of babies, toddlers and young children.
  • Reflecting on own facilitation.
  • Perform basic life support and first aid procedures
  • Apply First Aid procedures to the life-threatening situation.
  • Assess an emergency.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of elementary anatomy and physiology.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of emergency scene management.
  • Treat common injuries.
  • Basic cooking skills programme
  • Handle and maintain knives.
  • Handle and maintain utensils and equipment.
  • Handle and store food.
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Maintain hygiene in food preparation, cooking and storage.
  • Prepare and bake food.
  • Prepare and fry food.
  • Prepare and grill food.
  • Prepare cold and hot sandwiches and rolls.
  • Prepare fruit for hot and cold dishes.
  • Prepare vegetables for hot and cold dishes.
